WE OFFER LIVERPUDLIANS FREE PIZZA TO DITCH THEIR DOMINO’S

In a bid to further take control of the takeaway pizza market we tried something a bit different this month and give the people of Liverpool a treat at the same time.

We decided to use some bold guerrilla tactics to take on the popular high-street takeaway pizza delivery service – Domino’s.

Recently voted tastier than both Domino’s and Pizza Hut in independent blind taste tests we decided to put our money where our mouth is as we took to the streets of Liverpool.  Our Chicago Town Takeaway Taskforce followed Domino’s delivery bikes to the homes of people who ordered their takeaway pizzas in and around Liverpool.

Once the Domino’s delivery had been made the Chicago Town Takeaway Taskforce called at the same addresses – offering customers their money back and a free frozen Chicago Town Takeaway pizza in exchange for their Domino’s order.

The competition for pizza supremacy just got serious. The pizza (takeaway and frozen) market is worth a staggering £1 Billion in the UK annually.  Determined to communicate the tastiness of our yummy, fresh dough pizza, our new guerrilla marketing ploy follows a national TV campaign and on-pack promotion, both offering consumers their money-back if they don’t agree that our pizza is tastier than Domino’s or Pizza Hut.

Twenty-year-old Dan Cox, of Kensington, Liverpool – the first to be greeted by the Chicago Town Takeaway Taskforce – said: “When the Chicago Town team turned up at my door and offered me my money back and free pizza, I thought it was a joke! When they convinced me it was for real I thought it was actually a clever idea.

“I was a bit hesitant because I was starving and had been waiting for the pizza to arrive, but I couldn’t refuse. I’m glad I took them up on the offer because the pizza didn’t disappoint and now I know it’s much cheaper than Domino’s I might think twice before I pick up the phone!”

It was a joy to see yet another happy customer loving the great Takeaway flavour.

We have even had coverage in the Sunday Telegraph applauding our initiative, check it out for yourselves here.

“One evening, he called me as normal. We’d just started chatting when I heard the doorbell ring. I saw my housemate run to get it, and didn’t think anymore of it. That was until two minutes later, when the lounge door burst open, and my boyfriend walked in. He was still on the phone to me, pretending he was at home in Coventry. He’d driven down after work to see me and to take me out for dinner. He left for Coventry at 5am the next morning. That was 4 years ago. We’re still together now, and are getting married next month.”

and Nick in Stockport,

“I asked my partner to marry me on Christmas Eve, by putting her engagement ring on top of the Christmas tree and asking her to look at the sparkly thing at the top of the tree!

Now what girl does not want to find a sparkler and the top of the tree?  I know we all do!  Take a look and tell us your romantic moments.

A little Italy in Cheshunt…Revealing the most romantic Ristorante fan at Tesco

littleitaly

Last week the Ristorante team took our mobile Little Italy kitchen to the Tesco HQ in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire to feed the lovely folk who work there and find out just how romantic they are…

There we met Kathy Jacobs who told us her fab story abut her amazing husband who we will wish was ours now. Kathy had just got out of hospital and when she she returned home her husband had filled the house with flowers and made her up a bed on sofa so she did not have to trek up and down the stairs. We nearly shed a tear when Kathy told us they have been married 34 years and she has loved every minute of it.

Another pizza loving Guinness World Record holder

exppizzaAs two times holders of the Guinness World Record for the longest line of pizzas we were thrilled to find out there were other pizza loving record holders out there such as American chef Domenico Crolla who created the “Pizza Royale 007″ – the World’s most expensive pizza.  The pizza worth $3,700 and topped with 24-carat gold flakes was sold to a lawyer in 2006 for the grand total of $4,200 and took the record from TV super chef Gordon Ramsey and his less extravagant white truffle pizza created by at his Maze restaurant in London.

Pizza on the barbeque? What will they think of next?

US journalist Tracy Sahler has suggested we try pizza on the BBQ? What do you think? We might try it if summer had not already ended…the oven is definitely the best place to cook anything in this weather we think? I wonder if this is an American thing or do we Brits like to cook anything on the BBQ if the sun is shining? Maybe try it with a bbq sauce topping and let us know what you think…

Are you Britain’s most stressed out mum? Chicago Town want to hear from you

MUM’S THE WORD… FOR A STRESSFUL LIFE!images

OVER half of mums say their own family causes them more stress than paying the bills or work problems – most claiming to even be stressed before they’re dressed!  And, as a result we have launched a national competition via www.chicagotown.com/news to find the most stressed out mum in Britain and reward her dedication and hard work with a prize package designed to totally ease the pressure.

Research we carried out to launch Tuck in Tuesdays has revealed that even in the Credit Crunch obsessed climate UK mums blame their children for causing stress more than they do the worry of household bills, work issues or their love life.

A huge 54% of mums say the biggest contributor to their personal stress is their own family’s unrealistic expectation of them as a domestic goddess.  Expectations of them as a fast paced gourmet chef, cleaner, family accountant, agony aunt and family PA are routine for most mums and all this on top of their work commitments.

Only 5 per cent claimed work-related matters were the main cause of their stress, while 37 per cent said concerns over children caused them the biggest headache with money worries coming a close second with 32%. Just four per cent said their love life was the major stress contributor.

THE TOP TEN THINGS THAT STRESS MUMS OUT ARE:

1. Concerns over children (37%)

2. Money worries (32%)

3. Household chores (6%)

4. Extended family (6%)

5. Appearance (5%)

6. Work problems (5%)

7. Marital issues (4%)

8. Social life/ Me Time (3%)

9. Feeding the family within budget (2%)

10. Pets (1%)

Does this sound like you?  If so send us an email telling us why you are Britain’s most stressed out mum at chicagotown@brazenpr.com.
